George Kwabena Adu, widely known as Kwabena Kwabena, has officially withdrawn his candidacy for the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) Student Representative Council (SRC) presidential election.
He cited pressing personal engagements and unexpected business responsibilities that have significantly limited his availability, making it impossible for him to continue his campaign in good conscience.
“This decision has been incredibly difficult, especially knowing how much effort and confidence you have placed in me,” Adu said in a statement on Friday May 2. “Recent developments… have, unfortunately, altered my availability significantly.”
Despite his withdrawal, Adu emphasised that the vision and dreams for transformative change at UPSA remain alive and intact.
“Your genuine commitment to the vision we collectively built have touched me deeply,” he wrote, praising the dedication of his campaign team and supporters.
“Though circumstances now compel me to step back, our dreams for change and progress remain just as vital.”
Adu expressed profound gratitude to all who contributed to his campaign, from those who designed posters to those who offered words of encouragement.
“You have reminded me of the power of community,” he noted, highlighting the inspiration he drew from their collective efforts.
He framed his exit as a temporary pause rather than an end to their shared movement, urging supporters to stay focused on future opportunities for meaningful transformation within the UPSA community.
Closing on an optimistic note, Adu said, “This is not a goodbye, but a ‘see you soon’ in the broader journey to shape a better UPSA,” encouraging everyone to remain inspired and committed to lasting change.
