Actor and content creator Jeffery Nortey has revealed that his journey into acting was met with skepticism from his parents, who initially believed his passion for the craft would fade with time.
Speaking in an interview on The Chat on Channel One TV on Saturday June 7, Nortey shared that unlike his siblings who had more conventional career ambitions, he consistently expressed a desire to become an actor, a choice his family didn’t quite understand at first.
“I got a brother and a sister who shared what they wanted to do when they grow up, but I maintained that I wanted to act. They didn’t know how they could help me. They thought I would change my mind,” he recalled.
Despite the doubt, Nortey said he never wavered in his commitment to the dream.
“At every stage in my life, I reminded them of my resolve to act after JHS, after SHS, and even before then. Right from primary school, I was called Ramsey Noah,” he said, referencing the popular Nigerian actor.
He admitted that in the early years, he often felt like the odd one out.
“Then I was shy to say I wanted to be an actor. At every point, I was the odd one out. It has been my dream — not to be popular or famous — but for others to benefit from it,” he added.
