Former Chief Drummer of the Black Stars, Joseph Langabel, has denied allegations linking him to the supply of illegal drugs or aphrodisiacs to players.
In an exclusive interview with Ghana Weekend on Thursday July 17, he said he was never involved in any such acts during his time with the team.
“I am a big man, I am not a small boy. Excuse me to say, I am not a crazy man, I have sense. Have you heard they’ve ever caught me at the airport before?
”I served 13 years under Kwesi Nyantakyi’s administration, did you ever hear anything bad about me? Or any scandal involving me and the national team?”
Langabel alleged that his dismissal was not due to misconduct but rather jealousy and internal politics within Ghana football.
He pointed fingers at the current leadership of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), including President Kurt Okraku and his close associate, Michael Osekre.
“Observers are worried, believers shall enjoy. GFA President Kurt Okraku’s mother is my aunty. I even painted their house at Sakumono before they came into power. In 2019, I was with the national team in Egypt. If I was supplying drugs to players, how come I was still at post all those years?”
He claimed that while he initially had a cordial relationship with both Kurt Okraku and Osekre before they assumed power, everything changed once they took over the reins of the GFA.
“When they came into power, they started levelling false allegations against me and sacked me. It’s not about drugs,it’s jealousy” he added.
