President John Dramani Mahama has paid a heartfelt tribute to Highlife legend Charles Kojo Fosu, affectionately known as Daddy Lumba, following the news of his passing.
In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Sunday, July 27, and sighted by Ghana Weekend, the President expressed deep sorrow over the loss of one of Ghana’s most iconic musicians.
“I have learnt with deep sorrow the passing of Ghanaian music legend, Charles Kojo Fosu, affectionately known as Daddy Lumba,” the President wrote, sharing a photo of himself with the late musician.
President Mahama praised Lumba’s immense contribution to Ghanaian music, describing him as a genius whose songs have accompanied Ghanaians through the many stages of life.
“Lumba’s unmatched musical genius provided the soundtrack to our lives, carrying us through various phases of life. The beats to his memorable songs may have died down, but his enduring legacy will echo through the ages,” he said.
He also extended official condolences to the family:
“On behalf of the Government of Ghana, I extend heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones for this irreplaceable loss.”
Daddy Lumba, a towering figure in Ghanaian Highlife, leaves behind a legacy of timeless music that continues to influence generations.
Daddy Lumba passed away at the Bank hospital in Accra on Saturday,July 26,2025 while on admission.
