Founder of Fashion Nexus Ghana, Hillary S. Andoh, has said that the newly launched Business of Ghanaian Fashion(BoFG)and Year-Round Capacity Building initiative will directly tackle some of the most pressing challenges confronting Ghana’s fashion industry.
Speaking at the launch event in Accra on September 9,Hillary S. Andoh highlighted that while Ghana’s fashion scene is vibrant and creative, the industry remains largely informal, underfunded, and disconnected from key stakeholders needed to drive sustainable growth.
“For Ghana’s fashion industry to truly scale, we need to formalise the sector, create proper business structures, and ensure access to financing and investment,” Hillary S. Andoh said. “The Business of Ghanaian Fashion initiative will serve as the platform to address these gaps.”
The initiative is structured around two pillars:
1. The Summit – a forum for engaging stakeholders including designers, textile producers, manufacturers, policymakers, investors, and educators.
2. Year-Round Capacity Building – a series of workshops and training programs focused on business structuring, brand scaling, financial literacy, and export readiness.
According to her, the aim is to unite all stakeholders within the fashion ecosystem—designers, textile producers, financiers, government, and educational institutions—so that the industry can become more competitive globally.
The programme also seeks to boost SME growth, create youth employment opportunities, and enhance Ghana’s export potential, while showcasing the country’s creativity and cultural pride to the world.
Industry experts believe that if successfully implemented, the initiative could help unlock billions in untapped value within Ghana’s fashion industry, positioning it as a key driver of economic diversification and GDP growth.
