The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced that Ghanaians in the diaspora who are travelling to Ghana to attend the upcoming Diaspora Summit will not need visas.
He made the announcement during the official press launch of the summit held at the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
According to the Minister, the decision is intended to boost participation in the event and ensure that more Ghanaians abroad feel welcomed and included.
He emphasised that the government is working to remove barriers that prevent members of the diaspora from actively contributing to national development.
“The Diaspora Summit is about building bridges and strengthening ties between Ghana and its global community. We want our brothers and sisters abroad to feel at home when they return, and eliminating visa requirements for the summit is one of the ways to make that possible,” Ablakwa said.
The Diaspora Summit 2025 will take place from December 19 to 20 at the Accra International Conference Centre. It is expected to attract key figures from around the world, including entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers, and cultural leaders.
The summit will focus on topics such as investment, innovation, cultural exchange, and deepening Ghana–diaspora relations.
