Ghanaian musician Raquel widely known for her hit single “Sweetio,” has officially rebranded and will now be known as Elia-Naa.

The singer announced the change along with a heartfelt message to fans, assuring them that while the name has changed her essence and love for music remains.

“I’m still your Sweetio, but now… they call me Elia-Naa,” she said.

Speaking about her journey over the past few years, Elia-Naa revealed that she stepped away from the spotlight to focus on personal growth and a fulfilling career in education.

“For the past eight years, I enjoyed working as a full-time supply teacher in primary schools across the UK and occasionally taught music and also worked as a teaching assistant for children with special needs. I absolutely love it! I love children,” she shared.

According to her, taking time off helped her reconnect with herself and understand her purpose more deeply.

“I’ve also spent a lot of time getting to know myself. This might sound strange but a lot of people don’t really know who they are or what they stand for and what they are truly capable of. Taking time to reflect, isolate, restart and reload has refreshed my life in ways I never imagined.”

Elia-Naa explained that the name change was symbolic. She no longer resonated with the name Raquel and desired a name that better reflected her spiritual journey and sense of identity.

“I no longer connected with Raquel,” she said. “In Spanish, it means ‘female sheep’ and that wasn’t me anymore. I wanted a name that reflects my journey, my faith and the fact that God has always answered my prayers.”

With her new name and renewed direction, Elia-Naa is expected to reintroduce herself musically in the coming months, hinting at new music and creative projects.

Fans can look forward to what she describes as a fresh, grounded, and purpose-filled era.
