Mzbel’s son Adepa vows never to cut his dreadlocks for money

Veteran Ghanaian singer Mzbel’s son, Aaron Amoah, popularly known as Adepa, has made a bold statement about his dreadlocks, insisting that he would never cut them off for money or societal approval.

In an interview with Bro Emma on Obibini TV Studio on Monday  November 10, Adepa explained that his hairstyle has become an important part of his identity. He said he would only consider cutting his hair if doing so could save his family from a serious situation.

“I have had my hair for a very long time, so at this point, it has become part of me,” he said. “No money can let me cut off my hair unless it is a family thing. The only way I will cut off my hair is if I have done something serious, and it is the only way I can save my family.”

When asked what he would have done if he were in the shoes of the young girl whose hair was cut before she entered senior high school — a story that recently went viral — Adepa said he wouldn’t have complied.

“Why should I cut my hair for senior high that they teach maths and science while I can do software engineering?” he questioned. “My school doesn’t care about your hair, your footwear, or your glasses — they care about you learning.”

Adepa’s comments have stirred conversations on social media, with many debating whether schools should continue enforcing strict hair-cutting policies for students.

While some agree that discipline and uniformity are key to maintaining school culture, others believe that personal expression — including hairstyles — should not determine a student’s intelligence or ability to learn.
