The Presbyterian Boys’ Senior High School (PRESEC) has issued an official statement strongly rejecting comments made by lawyer and broadcaster Serwaa Amihere that the school was a “breeding ground for homosexuality.”
According to the school’s authorities, the comments, which have since gone viral following the circulation of a video online, are false, misleading, and do not reflect the values, culture, or long-standing traditions of PRESEC.
In its statement, PRESEC emphasised that for decades the institution has operated under a strong Christian and mission-based foundation, committed to upholding discipline, moral uprightness, academic excellence, and character formation among its students.
The school stressed that it has consistently enforced rules and regulations in line with its ethos and the standards of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.
The management noted that the remarks attributed to Serwaa Amihere unfairly tarnish the image of the school and undermine the efforts of past and present administrators, teachers, alumni, and stakeholders who have worked tirelessly to maintain PRESEC’s reputation as one of Ghana’s leading secondary institutions.
PRESEC further clarified that the statements made in the viral video do not portray what the school represents and should not be taken as an accurate depiction of life or culture on campus.
The school called on the public to disregard the claims and rely on verified information regarding its operations and values.
The statement concludes by reaffirming PRESEC’s commitment to discipline, moral training, and holistic education, while urging public figures to exercise responsibility and accuracy when making comments about educational institutions.
The controversy emerged after a video circulated online showing Serwaa Amihere making the remarks during a public discussion, sparking widespread debate and reactions across social media.
