Nigerian singer and entrepreneur Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibade, popularly known as Mr Eazi, has urged urgent action to implement the agreed protocols under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to unlock opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across Africa.
The artiste, who has increasingly positioned himself as a voice for African entrepreneurship, called on governments, policymakers, and stakeholders to ensure AfCFTA is fully executed, stressing that doing so would empower young entrepreneurs and strengthen economic integration across the continent.
Speaking at the 2026 Africa Prosperity Dialogues in Accra on Friday, February 6, Mr Eazi described the concept of a borderless Africa as both a Pan-African philosophy and an economic necessity.
“The idea of a borderless Africa began as a Pan-African philosophy, but today, through genuine regional blocs such as AfCFTA, it has become an economic necessity and an emerging reality,” he said.
“The framework has already been established, the treaties have already been signed. What remains is the crucial work of implementation.”
Mr Eazi emphasised that making Africa borderless does not imply removing nations or undermining sovereignty. Rather, it entails enabling the commitments already made under AfCFTA and allowing people to move, trade, and build across the continent more efficiently, securely, and lawfully.
“A more connected Africa is how SMEs grow to become continental champions,” he added, highlighting the potential of the trade agreement to transform African businesses into globally competitive enterprises.
