Ghanaian highlife musician, Kwabena Kwabena has addressed claims of ongoing tension between his team and that of fellow musician Akwaboah over alleged event venue clashes.
In an interview with Elsie Lamar on GhanaWeb TV on February 11, 2026, the singer was asked to clarify concerns that have surfaced in recent years suggesting repeated booking conflicts between the two camps.
According to the host, there have been complaints from Akwaboah’s side about clashes involving venues and dates, with suggestions of possible sabotage.
The issue reportedly gained renewed attention after Akwaboah, in a recent interview on Okay FM, appeared to speak in proverbial terms about securing a venue only to find it unavailable. He was also quoted as saying that people who help one rise to the top can also bring the person down, comments some have interpreted as subtle shade.
However, Kwabena Kwabena said he had not heard the interview and firmly denied any wrongdoing.
“I am an artiste who always wants to do a good event, and my team is always responsible for where to look for us to make an event,” he explained.
He detailed that his team follows a straightforward process when planning shows. “When we start to look for event centers, we scout for venues, and when we find what we are looking for, we go there and book it.”
He also stressed that he has never cancelled another artiste’s booking in order to secure a venue.
“There is nowhere I’ve gone where there is somebody’s booking and I’m going to cancel the person’s booking,” he said. “Every man is free to be able to enter anywhere and ask for services.”
According to him, once a venue agrees to provide its services, he sees no reason for conflict.
“If I go somewhere and ask for a service and the service is rendered to me, I don’t think I have any problem with anybody,” he added.
While speculation about friction between the two artistes continues to circulate online, Kwabena Kwabena maintains that his team operates professionally and within the bounds of standard event booking procedures
