Since expanding into Africa in February 2021, Spotify has seen remarkable growth in Ghana, amassing over 3.7 million streams in just five years.
The milestone underscores Ghana’s growing influence in the global music landscape and the strong appetite for both local and international sounds.

Ghanaian artiste Black Sherif emerged as the country’s most-streamed artiste during this period reflecting his widespread appeal and the resonance of his music with fans.
He was followed closely by Nigerian singer Asake, Afrobeat superstar Burna Boy, Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie and Canadian rapper Drake.

Some of the most-streamed songs in Ghana over the five-year period include “Woto Woto Seasoning” by Odumodumblack featuring Black Sherif, Asake’s “Lonely at the Top,” and Black Sherif’s hits “Oil in My Head,” “Sacrifice,” and “Konongo Zongo,” all making the list for the period.

These tracks showcase a mix of local talent and African collaborations that have strongly resonated with listeners in Ghana and internationally.
The five-year milestone celebrates not only the platform’s growth but also the rise of Ghanaian music on the global stage, positioning the country as a hub for creative innovation and musical talent.
