Invest in Young talents, not just big stars — Kasar urges record labels

Ghanaian singer Kasar has called on record labels and private investors to prioritise young emerging talents rather than focusing solely on already established stars.

Kasar who first gained national attention after finishing as first runner-up in the 2019 edition of the Channel One TV’s Voice Factory, said the experience helped spotlight his potential at an early stage. His breakthrough moment came a year later when he was signed by Lynx Entertainment in 2020 a move that significantly elevated his career.

Speaking to Graphic Showbiz in an interview on Monday, February 16, 2026, the “Akosua Cinderella” hitmaker stressed that the Ghanaian music industry lacks sufficient investors willing to take risks on upcoming artistes.

“I think we don’t have enough investors in the Ghanaian music industry, and the few prefer already established artistes because they are assured of returns,” he said. “However, every established artiste was once upcoming. If investors see that you are working hard, they can come on board and help you grow.”

According to Kasar, nurturing fresh talent is essential to driving innovation and long-term growth within the industry. While he acknowledged the vital role record labels play, he argued that investment should not be limited to traditional label structures.

“But for Lynx, I would have been burdened with financing and handling every aspect of my music career. Where and how would I have started? That said, it shouldn’t always be a record label. Individuals with the capacity can also step in and support young talents,” he explained.

Since his exit from Lynx Entertainment, Kasar admits that maintaining visibility in the competitive music space has been financially demanding. He noted that music production, video shoots, promotions, and collaborations require consistent funding.

“Being in the face of the industry every day demands money. There are times you want to shoot content or collaborate, but the cost alone can stop you. When there is an investor, it becomes easier because you cannot do everything by yourself,” he stated.

Currently navigating the industry independently, the singer says he is leveraging social media promotion and consistent releases to remain relevant and keep his audience engaged.
