Tech giant Apple Inc. has officially launched its latest iteration of the popular MacBook Air with M5 chip and the unveiling comes with a cultural twist that’s sparking global interest.

At a March 3, 2026 press event and accompanying promotional rollout, Apple showcased the new MacBook Air equipped with its cutting-edge M5 silicon highlighting enhanced performance, expanded storage, improved wireless connectivity, and advanced AI capabilities.

In a creative move that blends technology and music heritage, Apple’s official launch video features the 1971 Afrobeat classic “Let’s Start” by legendary Nigerian musician Fela Kuti.

The track drawn from his live album “Live” provides the soundtrack as the laptop’s key features and design elements are presented.

The inclusion of “Let’s Start” resonates with audiences worldwide, pairing Fela Kuti’s pioneering Afrobeat rhythm with Apple’s message of creativity and innovation.

The song has seen renewed international recognition in recent years including exposure through film soundtracks and its use in this campaign underscores the enduring cultural impact of Fela Kuti’s work.

In its promotional materials Apple emphasises the MacBook Air M5’s performance gains from faster AI-enabled workflows to significant improvements in processing and storage capacity aimed at students, creators, and professionals alike.

The new models also include sustainability updates such as increased recycled materials in construction aligning with Apple’s environmental goals.

The campaign has ignited conversations online about the intersection of tech and music legacy with many commentators noting the historic choice to spotlight a classic Afrobeat track in a major global product reveal.

With pre‑orders already underway and availability slated to begin later this month, the MacBook Air M5  bolstered by both technical advancements and cultural resonance  marks one of Apple’s most talked‑about launches to date.
