Ga-Adangbe traditional authorities have issued a strong warning to Afia Schwarzenegger over her recent remarks supporting claims that highlife legend Daddy Lumba has been buried on Ga land.
Addressing the media on Tuesday, March 17, a spokesperson for the leadership expressed outrage, describing her comments as disrespectful to the Ga-Adangbe people.
He stated that her remarks had crossed a line and would not be ignored.
“I don’t know who she is, but she has made statements that insult the Ga-Adangbe people. When we are done dealing with this matter, we will find out where she resides and respond appropriately,” he said.
The spokesperson also disclosed that the controversy has disrupted planned traditional activities in Nungua.
“We wish to inform the media and the general public that due to the circulating rumours, we have had to postpone our programme for today. This decision allows us to focus on addressing the allegations being directed at Nungua and the Ga-Adangbe community,” he explained.
According to the leadership, the immediate priority is to investigate and respond to the claims before announcing a new date for the postponed activities.
Leadership further emphasised that if it were established that Daddy Lumba was buried within Ga land without the necessary customary approval, the issue would be treated with utmost seriousness.
“Once we conclude our investigations, we will communicate a new date for the public to witness our next steps regarding this alleged unlawful burial in Nungua. Such an act is unacceptable, and if confirmed, the body will have to be exhumed and relocated to the appropriate place,” he added.
