The Serwaa Amihere Foundation has refurbished the Male Geriatric Ward at the Accra Psychiatric Hospital, bringing renewed hope and improved living conditions for elderly patients.
Through the support of partners, the foundation undertook the renovation of the ward which houses aged men receiving long-term care.
The initiative focused on upgrading the space to provide a more dignified and comfortable environment for residents.
The Male Geriatric Ward is home to elderly men, many of whom have been abandoned by their families and are now fully dependent on the care provided by the hospital.
For these patients, the facility serves not only as a treatment centre but also as their primary home and support system.
The refurbishment highlights the growing need for collective action in addressing mental health care and elderly welfare in Ghana while also underscoring the importance of compassion and community support for vulnerable groups.
