Actress Roselyn Ngissah has called on renowned Nigerian film director Frank Rajah Arase to invest in grooming a new generation of actors to strengthen Ghana’s movie industry.
She appealed on Tuesday, March 24, during the press review of Rajah’s latest film, Virgin of the Throne, held at the Silverbird Cinemas, Accra Mall.
Speaking at the event, Roselyn Ngissah acknowledged the director’s immense contribution to the careers of many established actors, noting that several prominent figures in the industry had benefited from his mentorship.
“A lot of us passed through your hands. A lot of the sitting actors that we all know,” she said, expressing appreciation for his impact over the years.
With the director making a return to the movie scene, she urged him to extend the same opportunity to emerging talents.
According to Ngissah, nurturing young actors would not only sustain the industry but also elevate its standards.
“Now that you’re back, one, we’re here to support you. Two, I’ll plead with you to also let another new crop of actors pass through your hands,” she stated.
Ngissah emphasised that a steady rise in well-trained talent would significantly transform the industry, making it more competitive and dynamic.
“And I believe when we have a lot of talent springing up, doing what they know how to do best, and you’re schooling them as well, our movie industry will no longer be ordinary,” she added.
Her remarks come at a time when stakeholders continue to advocate for capacity building and structured mentorship in Ghana’s film sector, seen as key to reviving and sustaining its growth.
