Comedian Lekzy Decomic has added his voice to growing concerns over Ghana’s ongoing power outages, commonly known as dumsor, describing how the situation is beginning to take a toll on daily life and businesses.
Speaking in an interview with GhanaWeb, the comedian recounted a recent personal experience that highlights the challenges many Ghanaians are currently facing.
“Last night I slept in darkness all through. What more can we say?” he lamented.
Lekzy Decomic also addressed the increasing politicisation of public commentary on national issues, noting that individuals who speak up are often tagged with political affiliations.
“Now, when you try to speak the truth, people label you that you are from a certain party. But all we want is the betterment of Ghana,” he said.
According to him, the effects of the erratic power supply extend beyond inconvenience and are directly impacting livelihoods, particularly for those who rely on electricity for their businesses.
He illustrated this with a relatable analogy: “I always say that if you don’t have any soup or stew in your fridge, you’d complain if people were lamenting because nothing in your fridge is spoilt. But if you have, you will understand this conversation.”
Despite his concerns, the comedian expressed cautious optimism, urging authorities to act swiftly to prevent the situation from worsening.
“I only believe that we are on the right path and they should fix it as soon as possible before it gets out of hand,” he added.
His comments reflect a broader public sentiment, as many Ghanaians continue to call for urgent and lasting solutions to the persistent power challenges affecting homes and businesses across the country.
