Afrobeats star Davido has announced a two-month pause in his music career to campaign for the re-election of his uncle, Ademola Adeleke, ahead of the 2026 Osun State governorship election.
The Grammy-nominated artiste disclosed on Tuesday, May 5, in Ede during the inauguration of the Imole Youth Campaign Mobilisation Team, a committee he chairs.
According to him, the decision is aimed at boosting grassroots support and strengthening youth-driven political engagement across the state.
“I have put my musical career on hold for two months to come and work for my uncle, not only because he is my uncle but also because he is doing a good job and still has more to accomplish. The job is not done,” Davido said.
He emphasised the importance of the committee’s role, describing it as central to mobilising young voters and expanding the governor’s reach at the community level.
“We are all here to support him to win the election with our influence. This is one of the most important committees because it focuses on youths,” he added.
Davido further charged the youth to embark on intensive, door-to-door campaigns across all local government areas, highlighting the administration’s achievements and plans.
“Let us carry out door-to-door mobilisation across all local governments, showcasing what the governor has achieved and what he intends to do. Engage people within your communities and communicate the governor’s programmes effectively,” he urged.
The mobilisation team includes Vice Chairman Adeshina Kayode Olododo, Secretary Gbenga Idowu, and representatives from various federal constituencies across Osun State, tasked with coordinating outreach efforts in their respective areas.
