Kuami Eugene has stated that it is possible for musicians in Ghana to earn as much as $100,000 monthly if they fully understand the business side of music and take advantage of the various revenue streams available.
Speaking on Joy Prime’s PrimeTime show on Wednesday, May 6, the award-winning artiste explained that the music industry now offers several ways for artistes to make money beyond just releasing songs.
During the interview, the host asked Kuami Eugene what advice he would give to a young person interested in pursuing music and how musicians actually make money.
Responding to the question, Kuami Eugene said there are now many income opportunities available to artistes.
“I can list them for you. There are so many of them now.”
He went on to mention several sources of revenue musicians can benefit from, including performances, media royalties, publishing, endorsements and streaming income.
“There’s publishing and there’s royalties.”
“And then there’s the money you get from commercials.”
“And then there’s one you get from streaming and there’s one you get from shows and then there’s one you get from endorsements.”
According to the “Monica” hitmaker, artistes who understand how the industry works financially can make significant amounts of money.
“So there’s a lot of money if you are aware.”
The host then asked whether earning as much as $100,000 a month as a musician in Ghana was realistic.
In response, Kuami Eugene confidently answered:
“It’s possible.”
