Controversial evangelist and founder of Heaven Way Champion International Ministry, Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Agradaa, has advised the youth and the general public to stay away from acts that could land them in prison, using her own experience as a lesson.
Speaking in an interview on Onua TV on Sunday, May 10, Agradaa recounted the difficult conditions she faced while incarcerated.
According to her, prison life is far from easy and should not be glorified.
“I went into prison for eight months and during those periods, I slept at 5:30, I scrubbed the gutters, I scrubbed the washrooms, and I carried blocks. Prison is real and it exists and so whatever you’re doing that may end you up in prison, stay away from it.”
She further advised people to avoid allowing pride or stubbornness to escalate legal issues.
“Don’t let anybody lie to you, don’t just do anything. If you have a case with anyone that leads to the courtroom, go on your knees and apologise because if you do not take care and act like you’re not guilty, you may end up in prison,” she added.
Agradaa also credited her husband and her faith in God for helping her through the experience, comparing her situation to the biblical story of Moses delivering the Israelites from Pharaoh.
“And once you get to the prison… if not for God, who through my husband, just like he led Moses in the Bible to deliver the Israelites from the hands of Pharaoh, I’d still be in prison now,” she stated.
She ended her message by urging people to cherish their freedom and be mindful of their actions.
Her comments come months after her widely publicised legal troubles.
In July 2025, an Accra Circuit Court sentenced Agradaa to 15 years’ imprisonment with hard labour after she was convicted for charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretence over a money-doubling scheme she promoted on television.
Prosecutors said several victims were deceived into giving out money after she claimed to possess spiritual powers to multiply cash.
However, the sentence was later reduced to 12 months by the Amasaman High Court, which ruled that the original punishment was excessive, though her conviction was upheld.
