KiDi has showered praise on fellow musician Kuami Eugene, describing him as one of the most talented artistes he has ever worked with while addressing concerns about the singer’s future following his exit from Lynx Entertainment.
Speaking in an interview with ZionFelix, KiDi was asked to share his thoughts on Kuame Eugene’s next chapter after leaving the label.
The question was based on a popular perception that artistes who part ways with Lynx Entertainment often struggle to maintain their momentum or produce hit songs.
Responding to the concern, KiDi dismissed suggestions that Kuami Eugene’s success would depend solely on his departure from the label, insisting that talent has never been the issue.
“It’s less about Kwami Eugene and more about what the world is right now,” he said.
According to KiDi, Kuami Eugene remains among Ghana’s most gifted musicians, and his abilities cannot be questioned regardless of circumstances.
“I’ve said this on many platforms, that in the last decade of Ghanaian music, if we’re naming the top 10 most talented artistes in Ghana, Kwami Eugene is in there,” he stated.
He further emphasised that no personal differences or changing situations could take away from the singer’s abilities.
“No bad blood, no animosity, no kind of mentality would take that away from him. He’s one of the most talented artistes we’ve seen in the last decade. You cannot take that away,” he added.
However, KiDi explained that the music landscape has evolved significantly and succeeding in today’s industry requires much more than musical talent alone.
According to him, artistes now have to adapt to a rapidly changing system where branding, online visibility and content creation play increasingly important roles.
“Me and Kwami Eugene came up in a system that was very different to what the system is right now,” he explained.
He noted that musicians are now expected to wear multiple hats beyond making music.
“You have to be a content creator. You have to be everything. It’s not just about talent,” he said.
KiDi admitted that talent alone no longer carries the same weight it once did in an artiste’s journey to success.
“My talent was 40%. Now it’s 10% and 90% every other thing,” he stated.
Reaffirming his admiration, KiDi looked directly into the camera and delivered a personal message to his former label mate.
“I’m looking into the camera, telling you, you are one of the most talented people I’ve ever worked with or seen. It’s not about talent,” he said.
