After nearly two decades of shaping some of Ghana’s biggest music stars, Lynx Entertainment has officially stepped away from artiste management, marking the end of an era for one of the country’s most influential record labels.
Founder and CEO Richie Mensah disclosed that the company no longer manages artistes and has now transitioned fully into music distribution and consumer electronics.
Speaking on the current state of the label, Richie explained that the decision was part of a personal promise he made years ago.
“I promised myself that when I turned 40, I was going to retire from music, and I’m honouring that promise because I value promises to myself.”
According to him, the transition did not happen abruptly but was a gradual process of phasing out the management arm of the business.
“Currently, Lynx no longer manages any artistes. Lynx is officially out of the artiste management business,” he stated.
He added that while he cannot predict what the future may hold, the company’s present focus is no longer talent management but rather music distribution.
The move signals a major shift for the label that helped launch and nurture the careers of top Ghanaian acts, including KiDi, Kuami Eugene, MzVee, and several others who became household names under the Lynx brand.
Beyond distribution, Richie says his full attention is now on Lynx Electronics, a new venture aimed at creating devices for music consumption.
“For 20 years, I’ve been creating sound and creating music for people to enjoy. Now I’m focusing on creating a way they can enjoy that music, a way they can listen to that music,” he explained.
In 2025, the company introduced Lynx Reverb, its line of headphones, and is preparing to launch a new speaker called Lynx Octave.
Richie described the evolution as a natural progression, from being the people who made the music to becoming the people creating the experience through which audiences enjoy it.
The shift positions Lynx Entertainment for a new chapter, one that moves beyond managing stars and into shaping how music is delivered and experienced by listeners.
