The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has commended the University of Ghana’s School of Performing Arts for their reenactment of the transatlantic slave trade during the Next Steps Juneteenth commemoration at Osu Castle.
In a Facebook post on Sunday, June 21, the minister described the performance as masterful and expressed pride in the students for showcasing Ghana’s artistic talent on an international stage.

“I congratulate the University of Ghana’s School of Performing Arts for that masterful reenactment of the transatlantic enslavement at the Osu Castle during the Next Steps Juneteenth commemoration,” he wrote.
According to the minister, the performance has attracted significant international attention, with invitations already coming from countries including Barbados, Jamaica and the United States.

“Their brilliant performance is receiving wide international acclaim, with invitations already pouring in from multiple countries, including Barbados, Jamaica and the US.”

He further praised the country’s creative talents, saying he was proud of the diverse abilities being demonstrated by Ghanaians.
The minister also used the opportunity to extend Father’s Day wishes to men across the country.
“May I wish all our hardworking and caring men a Happy Father’s Day.”
