The pressure was on, the targets were set, and there were no goalkeepers to beat. Chief Executive Officer of Universal Merchant Bank (UMB), Dr. Philip Oti-Mensah, kept his composure to emerge as the ultimate winner of the CEO Challenge at the 2026 Citi Business Olympics.
The challenge, featuring a straight penalty shootout with no goalkeepers, brought together chief executives from several participating companies in a test of precision, confidence and composure.
Each CEO was given three shots, with the executive who converted the most attempts crowned the winner.
Dr. Oti-Mensah proved the most accurate on the day, finding the target consistently to secure the top spot for UMB in one of the most entertaining moments of the corporate sporting event.
The challenge drew senior executives from several companies, including 3Trees Ghana Paints Limited, Fidelity Security, Papaye, Ghana Post, Cargill and Heidelberg Materials, among others.
With colleagues and fellow executives looking on, the CEOs traded boardrooms for the football pitch, turning what appeared to be a simple shooting contest into a battle of nerves, accuracy and bragging rights.
The CEO Challenge was one of the highlights of the 2026 Citi Business Olympics, which brought together more than 100 companies for sporting, recreational, and networking activities aimed at promoting teamwork, interaction, and healthy competition.
