The Nollywood–Africa in Diaspora Film & Food Festival and Awards is set to officially launch its corporate and media activities in Accra to bring together conversations around African film, food, heritage, culture and the African diaspora.
The Corporate & Media Launch is scheduled for Thursday, October 29, 2026, at the W.E.B. Du Bois Centre in Cantonments, Accra, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Organised around the theme “Uniting Cultures. Celebrating Excellence,” the initiative seeks to create a platform that connects African creative industries and diaspora communities through film, food and cultural heritage.
The festival’s concept places particular emphasis on the relationship between Africa and its diaspora, using cinema and cultural expression as avenues for bringing people and communities together.
Film festivals have increasingly served as important spaces for African cinema to connect with international and diaspora audiences.
A celebration beyond film
While the name of the initiative places Nollywood and film at its centre, the event is designed to extend beyond filmmaking. Food, heritage and diaspora are also highlighted as major components, reflecting the organisers’ intention to present African culture as a broad creative and social experience.
The launch is expected to provide an opportunity to introduce the festival and awards programme to members of the media, corporate organisations, filmmakers, creative professionals and other stakeholders ahead of its wider activities.
The growing international reach of African cinema has created opportunities for African filmmakers and stories to connect with audiences beyond their home markets. Nollywood in particular has developed a significant transnational presence, with African films increasingly circulating through festivals, television and digital platforms.
