The latest social media sensation is actor Mmebusem who does short comic skits, imitating Christ (from the Christmas movies and Christian calendars we see).
He dresses and speaks softly except he has no disciple and he speaks Twi and passes funny comments.
Speaking to Nana Romeo on Accra FM’s Ayekoo show, Gospel singer, Cindy Thompson condemned the actor for such videos.
She said it is not right to bring God to the level of humans and go as far as imitating Him.
The singer who believes in spirituality said imitating Christ in such a comic way could expose him to doom and that if his talent is acting, he should direct it to acting devoid of making fun of Jesus Christ.
When the host asked what her thoughts are about the skits, she first asked, “what’s his reason for doing these skits?”
And after the host explained it is just for laughs, she replied “Then what he’s doing is not good because all our actions are supposed to glorify Christ but he dressing like Jesus [is not the way to go]”
“If he were spreading the gospel just as the inscription says, it will get to a time where he’ll see God helping him win souls for Him but if he’s using his mind, motives to make jokes to get viewers and money then he’s riding on the wrong car.”
“I don’t think what he’s doing is right. So, he should reflect on the fact that God is too mighty for him to bring him to that level. He should recognize that the breath he uses for this (the videos) was God given.”
She advised Mmebusem to stop such skits to save himself from the impending wrath of God.
“Nobody can stand God and nobody can make fun of God. He wasn’t directed to do what he is doing so he is exposing himself to doom. If his given talent is acting, there are so many ways he can do that and he would even be blessed. But if he would continue imitating Christ, I plead he advise himself and stop,” she concluded.
