Ghanaian actor and TV presenter James Gardiner has stated that the creative arts industry in the country can be revived when the youth in the country are given the opportunity to be involved in its growth.
Speaking at a meeting with the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture on June 25, 2021, he stated that, the youth must be given the chance to contribute modern ideas and innovations into the creative sector because they have a better understanding of the market.
He also revealed that the creative art industry in other African countries is more lucrative than in Ghana.
He emphasized insufficient funding as a major problem in promoting Ghana’s creativity because funding guarantees quality in terms of getting the right gadgets to meet international standards.
“We are still at the age where we produce movies but are not recognized globally,” he said.
He added that a great financial subsidiary into the industry helps in distributing movies worldwide instead of being only locally accessible. The government aims at making the country a hub for movie productions for both local and international movies and has started initiatives towards reaching that goal.
The actor accentuated that, the youth’s involvement in the creative industry must be greater in number to gradually compete with the new trends.
The creative art industry has been under par for a while and the government is making efforts in reviving it.
James Gardiner is a Ghanaian actor who rose to fame when he featured in the movie Byline in 2001.
