Tagoe Sisters mark 40 Years in music with Sold-Out concert in Accra

Legendary Ghanaian gospel music group,  Tagoe Sisters successfully staged the Accra edition of their Tagoe Sisters @ 40 concerts on October 15, 2023, at the Accra International Conference Centre[AICC]

The concert was a celebration of the iconic Ghanaian gospel duo’s 40th anniversary in the music industry.

The AICC was packed to the rafters with fans of all ages, eager to see the Tagoe Sisters perform their greatest hits.

The concert kicked off with a stirring rendition of their classic song which was met with thunderous applause from the audience.

They then took the audience on a musical journey through their four-decade career, performing songs like “Etu be twa”,  “Yedi Nkunim” and ”Orekyekye”

They also performed some of their new songs, which were warmly received by the fans. The Tagoe Sisters were joined on stage by a number of guest performers including Ceccy Twum and Ophelia Nyantakyi.

The guest performers added to the excitement of the concert, and their performances were well-received by the audience.

The concert ended with a standing ovation from the audience, who were grateful to the Tagoe Sisters for a memorable night of music and celebration.

With much elation, the legendary gospel music group expressed their gratitude to their fans for their support over the years, and they promised to continue making music for many years to come.

The Accra edition of the Tagoe Sisters @ 40 concerts was a resounding success, and it was a fitting tribute to the duo’s illustrious career.

The concert was not only a celebration of their music but also of their resilience and dedication to their craft. The legendary duo will shake the Ashanti Region, Kumasi, with a fundraising dinner on 23rd October 2023. 

Known in real life as Lydia Dedei Yawson Nee Tagoe and Elizabeth Korkoi Tagoe, the twins have been singing in the gospel music industry since 1983 under the brand name Tagoe Sisters.

Since they emerged on the gospel music scene, the iconic gospel music duo have not looked back, and they continue to share their experiences with people all over the world who are affected by their music in different ways.

The duo, in 1979, toured the whole country with groups like Advent Heralds and took part in big musical concerts nationwide.

With the Advent Heralds, between 1982 and 1983, the legendary sisters performed during the Open Bible Crusade and were recognized as the first group doing contemporary gospel music.

Through their Godfather, Nana Ekumfi II, they met the late Reverend Amoako, who became their spiritual leader in 1985.
