Chef Abdul-Razak Failatu may have set a new Guinness World Record for the longest culinary marathon, after tirelessly cooking up delicious meals for ten debilitating days.
With a remarkable 227 hours of continuous cooking, she has exceeded the current record of 119 hours and 57 minutes held by Irish Chef Alan Fisher.
Chef Failatu’s journey began at midnight on January 1, 2024, with the aim to finish on January 5. But her determination and culinary skill enabled her to extend the marathon to January 10, earning admiration from patrons who were served an array of local and continental dishes.
The city of Tamale in the Northern Region went into a state of frenzy with support for Chef Failatu, with dignitaries, celebrities, and influential figures rallying behind her.
Notable attendees included Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the Minister of State at the Finance Ministry Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, Chief of Staff Madam Akosua Frema Osei Opare, former First Lady Lordina Mahama, and former Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu.
The record is yet to be officially confirmed by Guinness World Records.
