Ghanaian singer Selasi Aklotsoe Mensah, also know as SamKcat, in his latest song is calling for peace and unity.
The artist, who is known for his Reggae/hiplife/Afro-Dancehall style in his single, stresses the need for togetherness and unity in Africa and around the world.
SamKcat encourages listeners to “love thy neighbour, speak truth to power respectfully, and for all to enjoy the fruit of their labour.”
He delivered this message with dexterity in the Hausa, Twi, Ewe, English and the Ga languages.
This is a powerful skill that many artists may find difficult but SamKcat does so with ease and is a true testament to his Ghanaian roots.
Many countries in Africa, and especially Ghana are in their election year and SamKcat has used his voice to Call For Peace In Ghana and across Africa.
Cases of coup d’etat and terrorism are on the rise in Africa; SamKcat has taken the opportunity to encourage people to report any signs of criminal activities with the ‘See Something Say Something’ slogan.
In addition, SamKcat encourages all to choose dialogue over violence and prioritise finding a win-win situation rather than entertain things that divide us. He captures this with the popular quote of Whitson Churchill ‘To jaw-jaw is better than to war-war’.
