The Ga Mantse King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II has urged the next government that will take over in 2025 to fund a film about legendary former Ghanaian boxer Azumah Nelson.
The prestigious Africa Cinema Summit (ACS) continued its second edition at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra, Ghana.

Following the high-profile opening day featuring British actor Idris Elba, Day 2 welcomed the presence of the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II who served as the guest of honour.
The Ga Mantse, in his keynote address which was read on his behalf by astute broadcaster Nathaniel Attoh, challenged the next government to take responsibility for funding high-impact productions from Ghana, as well as features and documentaries that encapsulate key elements of our nation’s history.

According to the Ga Mantse, ” One, considering we are on the Ga Adamgbe land and considering that he is a custodian of the Ga Adamgbe culture is a story of one of the most achieved athletes from the African continent Berima Professor Azumah ZumZum Nelson who is a son of the Ga soil”.
The Ga Mantse stressed that “His story embodies culture, inspiration, and projects the future of the African way. This is one of the many stories that can be pursued in a very vigorous way by the government that takes over in the year 2025”.

Other high-profile personalitiesAccompanying the Ga Mantse who served as the guest of honour was Ghana’s Minister of Tourism, Creative Arts, and Culture, Mr Andrew Egyapa Mercer, along with the Minister of State For Youth And Arts – Republic of Rwanda HON. SARDRINE UMUTONI.

Organised by the National Film Authority[NFA], the 2024 Africa Cinema Summit which aims to foster collaboration, innovation, and growth within the African film industry will end on Thursday, October 10.
