The University of Media, Arts and Communication – Institute of Journalism (UniMAC-IJ) has established a temporary committee to oversee student affairs in the absence of elected Student Representative Council (SRC) executives.
The committee was formed during the last semester, which ended in April, after the university did not hold the traditional SRC elections.
This decision followed disruptions in the online voting process at the start of the semester, which triggered widespread complaints from students.
In response, a committee made up of eligible student candidates from all academic levels were appointed to take on the duties typically handled by elected SRC officials.
The interim committee will remain in place until a new constitution is drafted for the three UniMAC campuses: UniMAC-IJ, UniMAC-IL, and UniMAC-IFT. The forthcoming constitution is expected to establish a unified SRC leadership across all three institutions, enabling the election of a single SRC president and other executives.
Students at UniMAC-IJ are looking forward to the new constitution, expressing hope that it will lead to a more efficient and responsive SRC that better addresses their needs.
