Suzzy Adwoa Pinamang, the form two student of Adventist Senior High School who was accidentally shot in the eye earlier this year, has successfully undergone eye surgery in the United Kingdom and is now on the road to full recovery.

This was confirmed by Rafik Mahama, special aide to businessman Ibrahim Mahama, in a statement shared on Facebook.

According to him, the life-changing procedure took place at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, one of the world’s leading eye care institutions.

In a Facebook post on Thursday June 26, Rafik Mahama announced that Suzzy’s surgery has been successfully completed and that she had already started regaining her independence.

“I am pleased to announce that Suzzy Adwoa Pinamang successfully underwent her scheduled eye surgery on June 2, 2025, at Moorfields Eye Hospital in the United Kingdom… The operation was a success, and Suzzy is now on the path to full recovery. She has already begun regaining her independence and is now able to see on her own,” the post read.

Rafik Mahama extended deep appreciation to the medical teams in both Ghana and the United Kingdom, with special mention of the staff at Moorfields Eye Hospital.

“I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the medical teams in both Ghana and the United Kingdom, particularly the exceptional team at Moorfields Eye Hospital,” he stated.

He also acknowledged the efforts of key individuals and institutions who contributed to making the surgery possible-Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa; the Ghana High Commission in London, outgoing UK High Commissioner to Ghana, HE Harriet Thompson; Francis Asenso-Boakye, Roger Pope Opticians in London, Suzzy’s family, the media, and the general public.

Rafik Mahama also highlighted the pivotal role played by his boss, Ibrahim Mahama, whose financial and logistical support ensured that Suzzy received the urgent medical attention she needed abroad.

“We are especially grateful to Mr. Ibrahim Mahama, whose generosity and full support made this entire process possible for Suzzy.”

Suzzy Pinamang was flown to the United Kingdom on May 10, 2025, through the sponsorship of Ibrahim Mahama and with the assistance of Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Her case captured public attention earlier this year after she sustained serious eye injuries from an accidental shooting, sparking calls for urgent medical intervention.

Her successful surgery has been widely celebrated as a symbol of what collaborative effort and goodwill can achieve.
