Ghanaian media personality, health advocate, and kidney disease survivor Abigail Ashley is celebrating her birthday in a meaningful way—with the release of her inspiring new memoir, Grace and Grit, a deeply personal and moving account of her 18-year journey battling chronic kidney disease.

In Grace and Grit, Abigail chronicles her diagnosis with end-stage kidney failure in 2007, when she was given just five years to live. Defying the odds through sheer determination, spiritual faith, and an unshakable support system, Abigail not only survived but thrived—culminating in a successful kidney transplant in 2019.

“This book is not just about illness,” Abigail said. “It’s about hope, resilience, and the grace that carried me through the darkest moments of my life.”

The memoir is dedicated to some of the key figures who supported her journey, including Dr. Ernest Ofori Sarpong, Dr. Osei Kwame Despite, Rev. Mrs. Grace Addo, and her family. The foreword was written by Dr. Fadda Dickson, Managing Director of the Despite Media Group.

Through heartfelt storytelling, Abigail takes readers through:

The emotional toll of living with a terminal diagnosis

Her battles with pain, fear, and uncertainty

The power of faith, love, and generosity

Her transformation into a leading health advocate

More than just a personal story, Grace and Grit is a rallying cry for increased awareness of kidney health in Ghana and across Africa. It encourages readers to listen to their bodies, embrace faith, and never give up—even in the face of overwhelming odds.

The memoir is now available in Kindle format on Amazon: https://a.co/d/3KieUJo, as well as at Despite Media front desks (Peace FM, UTV, Okay FM, Neat FM, Hello FM), Achimota Old Station Shell Filling Supermarket, or by calling 0596 200 902 for delivery (at a fee).
