The Kevin Okyere Foundation has marked this year’s World Food Day with a donation of food items to about 400 residents of Fadama in Accra, as part of efforts to fight hunger and support underprivileged communities.
Led by its Chairperson, Kevin Okyere, the foundation also extended the gesture to the National Chief Imam’s residence and the Nurudeen Children’s Home, emphasising the need for collective action in addressing social and economic challenges in Ghana.
Speaking at the event on Thursday October 16, Mr Okyere said the foundation operates across the country with interventions in education, health care, and social welfare, explaining that Fadama was chosen this year in recognition of the area’s need and the significance of World Food Day.
“Government cannot do everything by themselves, and we as citizens, corporations, and civil societies all have to figure out how we can also contribute to society,” he stated. “We shouldn’t just look up to the government , government is doing their part.”
He added that the foundation is also exploring vocational opportunities for the underprivileged, with plans to equip beneficiaries with practical skills that can help them secure employment locally and abroad.
Mr Okyere called on corporate bodies, civil society organisations, and individuals to join hands in building a better Ghana through sustainable support systems that empower communities and reduce dependency.
The donation forms part of the foundation’s broader mission to uplift vulnerable groups and promote inclusive development across the country.
