The maiden edition of the Michael Adangba Legacy Music Festival recorded an impressive turnout, reaffirming the legendary musician’s enduring influence on Ghana’s music and cultural heritage.

Organised by Kacstone Records, the festival brought together fans, music lovers, and cultural enthusiasts from across the country for a thrilling night of rhythm, celebration, and heartfelt tribute to Michael Adangba, one of Ghana’s most revered custodians of traditional music.

Taking centre stage, Michael Adangba delivered a captivating and electrifying performance, thrilling an ecstatic crowd with a rich selection of his signature traditional songs that echoed his deep-rooted cultural identity and musical brilliance.

The festival showcased a vibrant mix of live performances, interactive sessions, and cultural displays, cutting across ethnic, religious, geographical, and political divides to foster unity, harmony, and shared cultural pride among patrons.

Adding an international flavour to the celebration, the maiden edition attracted representation from neighbouring Burkina Faso, including musicians, clearing agents, and other top officials who dedicated their time to be part of the historic event.

The occasion was further graced by prominent dignitaries, including the current District Chief Executive for the Kassena-Nankana West District (DCE), Akurugu Stephen Aeke Akurugo, Former Member of Parliament for the Chiana-Paga Constituency, Abuga Pele, former DCE, Gerald Ataogye, a representative of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), and the President of the Alamgumbe Association, Bolga, underscoring the festival’s cultural significance.

A major highlight of the night was the honouring of six distinguished legendary musicians for their immense contributions to traditional music.

Special recognition was also accorded to the Regional Minister, Akamugri Donatus Atanga for his unwavering commitment to preserving Ghana’s traditional heritage, having famously become the first public figure to openly declare his African traditional beliefs during his ministerial vetting, and for his background as a traditional drummer in his youthful years.

In a statement issued on behalf of the legendary musician, the organisers expressed heartfelt appreciation to fans, invited guests, media organisations, security agencies, partners, and collaborators whose collective efforts ensured the success of the landmark event.

“Together, we made history, transcending ethnic, religious, geographical, and political boundaries to unite as one people on a shared platform of music and culture. The overwhelming support and peaceful atmosphere throughout the festival reaffirm the unifying power of music and the enduring strength of our shared heritage,” the statement noted.

According to the CEO of Kacstone Records, Wenawome Aborah, the festival successfully achieved its core objective of using music as a powerful tool for unity, creating a peaceful, inclusive, and celebratory atmosphere throughout.

Following the remarkable success of its inaugural edition, organisers have assured patrons that next year’s Michael Adangba Legacy Music Festival will be bigger, more vibrant, and even more memorable.
