After a successful international tour, the acclaimed documentary ‘The Eyes of Ghana’ is finally set to screen in Ghana, offering citizens a rare glimpse into the country’s history through the eyes of legendary filmmaker Chris Hesse.
Hesse, who served as the personal videographer for Ghana’s first president Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, captured pivotal moments in the nation’s formative years.
The documentary compiles decades of archival footage telling Ghana’s story from independence to modern times as seen through the lens of one of its most prominent visual historians.
The documentary will screen on April 16 at 6:00 PM at the National Theatre of Ghana and again on April 18 at 5:00 PM at the University of Ghana, Cedi Conference Centre Auditorium.
The filmmaking team will be present at both screenings to engage with audiences, answer questions and share insights into the making of the film.
“This is a monumental moment for Ghanaians. To finally see our history captured through the eyes of someone who lived and documented it is both inspiring and humbling,” the organisers said.
‘The Eyes of Ghana’ promises not only to educate but also to instil a renewed sense of pride and connection to the nation’s past.
