The residence of award-winning gospel musician Celestine Donkor was allegedly entered without a search warrant by personnel from the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) on Tuesday, April 22, 2026, according to her husband and manager, Kofi Donkor, who has since vowed to pursue legal action over what he describes as a clear violation of their rights.
Kofi Donkor first raised the alarm publicly in a Facebook post on Wednesday, April 23, sharing CCTV footage showing approximately four men in camouflage uniforms scaling the couple’s electric fence while the property was locked and unoccupied.
In a media interview, Kofi Donkor provided a detailed account of events.
He stated that at approximately 12:57 p.m., his CCTV system sent him notifications alerting him to activity in the compound.
“I opened my phone, and I saw about four men in uniform on the compound. I knew very well that there was nobody in the house. I got concerned,” he said.
Using a CCTV console on the compound, Kofi Donkor was able to communicate with the men. When he asked for identification, one of the officers identified himself as being from the Weija Immigration office but refused to give his name.
The officer claimed they had visited the property two months prior and had returned to follow up on Nigerian nationals allegedly living there and suspected of cyber fraud.
Kofi Donkor pushed back, telling the officer he believed they were at the wrong property, a claim the officer reportedly rejected.
According to Kofi Donkor, the officers also attempted to force entry through a kitchen door before eventually leaving the scene.
After reporting the incident to the Mallam Police Station, Donkor proceeded to the Weija Immigration office, where the second-in-command, identified as Mr. Obosu, confirmed that his men had indeed carried out the operation.
Obosu then contacted the squad leader, who admitted they had entered the property and spoken to someone through the CCTV console.
The office offered an apology, which Donkor rejected as insufficient. “They apologised and begged me not to proceed,” Donkor said. “But I told them it was too late.”
Celestine Donkor was out of the country at the time of the incident, and the couple’s daughter was at school when the officers entered the premises.
Kofi Donkor confirmed the family was unharmed.
