December in Ghana is no longer just about the party, it’s about the experience.
For years, we watched our favourite Ghanaian acts get 15 minutes on a big-booked show, perform 3 hit songs, and disappear. You cheer, but you don’t really feel them.
This year, more Ghanaian artistes are choosing to do it their own way, that is, full headline concerts. No sharing the stage. No rushing. Just them, their band or DJ, their catalogue and their fans and maybe a few guest acts to double it up.
And already, the announcements are coming in hot:
Omar Sterling – December 4
R2Bees’ lyrical genius is stepping out solo. Omar doesn’t do many solo headline shows, so you know this one is for real music lovers.
Interestingly, new sensation Lalid is also locked in for December 4. Two different vibes, same date. December is already forcing us to make tough choices.
Lalid has been bubbling with a loyal Gen-Z fanbase and this will be his biggest statement yet.
Lasmid – December 5
Just a day after the man who gave us ‘Biggest Nathaniel’ and a lot more bangers this year. This is his chance to prove he’s not just a hitmaker but a showman.
Bisa Kdei – December 20
The Highlife legend. Bisa Kdei is live music personified. His December 20th show will be that grown, soulful and sing-along night. Expect live band, timeless hits, and vibes from start to finish.
This shift is important. When Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Black Sherif, King Promise and Kweku Smoke decided to do their own annual headline shows, people thought it was just for the big names. Now Lasmid, Lalid, Bisa and others are proving that Ghanaian music has grown enough for every major act to have their own night.
The heavyweights who have made December theirs – Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Black Sherif, King Promise, and Kweku Smoke – are yet to announce their dates.
Plus, Gyakie has already promised she will do a concert this year. So expect that announcement soon.
More dates will be announced in the coming weeks.
