The national elections of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) which were postponed to July 10, 2019, have been rescheduled again.
In a statement released by the union, the main reason for the second postponement is to “enable the Electoral Commission to complete its operational and administrative work on the just ended Limited Voter Registration exercise.”
They say this will make the regional directors conduct the election in all the regions.
The elections which were originally scheduled for June 26, 2019, were postponed to July 10 at a meeting by the five-member committee appointed by the union’s National Executive Committee to supervise the pending elections.
According to the chairman of the committee, Smart Nkansah, the decision was based on the feedback the committee has received from the initial release of the voters register for the elections.
He indicated that the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) which would supervise the elections, is currently engaged with the limited registration of voters for the national elections for 2020.
This would be the first time all regions are voting at their respective centres.
