Kumi Guitar’s five-year contract with Zylofon Music record label will expire this year.

The highlife musician signed to Zylofon Music five years ago to set him on the path to international recognition and to make his brand a more formidable one.

He was given a sign-on fee of $100,000, a 3/4 bedroom house, and a Hyundai Sonata 2016 car.

Last year, Kumi told Kwame Dadzie in an interview on Ghana Weekend TV that after he’s done with Zylofon Music record label, he would want to set up his own label.

The ‘Sex’ singer said he prays that he puts together his own team to run affairs for him so that by the time any other bigger label comes for him, he would have had a firmer footing.

Zylofon Music has not been as strong in its operations as it was when it was first set up. This may have been the reason Kumi has also not been so visible as he used to be when he was signed to the label.

After top artistes like Shatta Wale, Joyce Blessing, Stonebwoy and Becca left the label, it has signed two other artistes: Tiisha and Akiyana.

Rapper Obibini is also still on the Zylofon Music label.

But grapevine information has it that Kumi Guitar does not receive the warm treatment he was given at the incipient stages of his stay at the label.

The ‘Break into Two’ singer who was formerly signed onto Okraku Mantey’s Slip Music, produced songs like ‘Brown Sugar’, ‘Dream’, ‘Betweener’, ‘

What becomes of him if he leaves Zylofon Music, as his contract expires this year.

Well, ghanaweekend.com wishes him well.
