Renowned Ghanaian Broadcaster, Gifty Anti has bravely opened up about her deeply personal battle with infertility.

Before getting married, she encountered significant difficulties in conceiving, intensifying her longing for motherhood—a dream rooted in her deep love for children.

Determined to become a mother at 41, Gifty Anti explored multiple options, including surrogacy, in-vitro fertilization (IVF), and artificial insemination.

Her relentless pursuit of parenthood was driven by unwavering hope. In an in-depth conversation with Edem Knight-Tay on Forty Weeks and More, she candidly shared the emotional and physical challenges she faced, her fears, and the extensive medical procedures she underwent.

She recalled how doctors initially diagnosed her with infertility, leaving her heartbroken and convinced that motherhood was out of reach.

After enduring four unsuccessful IVF attempts, her hopes began to wane.

However, her journey took a remarkable turn. At 47, she experienced the joy of welcoming her long-awaited daughter, Nyame Anonoyam, proving that faith, perseverance, and resilience can lead to extraordinary outcomes.

“I was in a committed relationship and longed to have a child. I kept trying, but nothing happened. Eventually, doctors discovered an issue with my fallopian tubes and had to flush them. It was one of the most excruciating procedures I had ever undergone,” she shared.

“They later informed me that one of my tubes was beyond repair, leaving me with just one functioning tube. Yet, conception still wasn’t happening. According to the doctors, natural pregnancy was impossible, and IVF was my only hope. I attempted IVF four times,” she recounted.

“From Ghana to London, my journey was long and challenging. But when she [my daughter] was finally born and placed on my chest, I couldn’t bear to let her go. The nurses assured me they needed to clean her, but at that moment, I just wanted to hold on to her forever.”
