Where are these Ghanaian female artistes?

In recent years Ghana’s vibrant music scene has seen an incredible rise in talent, but it’s impossible to ignore the noticeable silence from some once-prominent female artistes who helped shape the industry’s sound and spirit.

MZVee, once the face of empowerment and consistency, dominated charts with hits like Natural Girl and Come and See My Moda. Since her brief hiatus and return, her presence seems to have dimmed in an industry that moves at lightning speed. Fans can’t help but ask what’s next for her?

AK Songstress, known for her versatility between dancehall and Afrobeats, made waves beyond Ghana’s borders with songs like Jonathan. Yet, her recent quiet spell leaves fans wondering if she’s cooking up a comeback or shifting gears behind the scenes.

Then there’s Raquel, the soulful voice behind the timeless Sweetio. Her disappearance from the spotlight has left a gap in Ghana’s R&B and soul landscape. Many still recall her powerful performances and wonder why such a gem isn’t being heard today.

Eazzi, Efe Keys, Freda Rhymz, and eShun all talented in their own right once showed promise of reshaping Ghana’s female music narrative. Each had a unique sound and identity that set them apart, but the momentum seems to have stalled.

So where are they now? Are they rebranding, regrouping, or simply taking a break from the pressures of the industry? Whatever the case, the Ghanaian music scene  dominated recently by a new wave of female acts like Wendy Shay, Gyakie, Cina Soul, and Adina still has room for the voices that once led the charge.

One thing is certain: fans haven’t forgotten them. The industry, though fast-paced, always welcomes a good comeback story. Perhaps it’s time for these talented women to reclaim their spot and remind everyone why they once held Ghana’s musical spotlight.
