Popular Kumawood actor Kwaku Manu has praised President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for significant progress since their return to power—particularly the recent appreciation of the Ghanaian cedi against the US dollar.
In a video posted on his Instagram page on 26th May, the comic actor expressed excitement over the cedi’s improved performance and its relative stability.
He emphasised how important the development is for ordinary Ghanaians, especially those who frequently travel abroad.
“Putting politics aside, I must say President Mahama is really working hard since returning to power. I travel often, and when I come back to Ghana, I usually exchange the dollars I earn. Since my return, I’ve been monitoring the dollar rate closely, and I’m impressed,” he said.
Manu also acknowledged that a stronger cedi may reduce the value of his dollar savings when exchanged locally, but maintained that the overall benefit to the public is more important.
“Even though the appreciation might affect my savings when I exchange them, I’m happy about it. It’s good news for Ghanaians.
“For those who want to buy tickets to travel to places like China or the USA, it used to be a real struggle. Now that the dollar rate has dropped, it will make things easier—especially for traders and travelers,” he added.
