Ghanaian musician Mzbel has revealed that she stopped attending church and practising Christianity after an experience that left her uncomfortable.
Speaking in an interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM on Thursday January 15, the singer said her decision to leave the church marked the beginning of a personal journey of research and self-discovery that led her to a new belief system.
According to Mzbel, after quitting church, she began researching life, the world and humanity’s purpose, which eventually shaped her current spiritual path.
“It started after I left church and I started doing research about life, about this world and what we are supposed to do,” she said.
When asked why she stopped going to church, the musician explained that an incident occurred that made her uncomfortable, prompting her decision to leave.
“Something happened in the church that I wasn’t comfortable with, so I quit,” she stated, adding that she has shared the story on several occasions.
Mzbel also spoke about her interest in meditation, describing it as a process of looking inward to find answers based on what one seeks to understand.
“Meditation is basically going within yourself to find some answers, depending on what you want to know. That’s what I do,” she explained.
Despite the shift in her spiritual beliefs, Mzbel clarified that she is still active in music, noting that her current lifestyle and mindset represent a personal path she feels called to follow.
“It’s my path. It’s a path that I’m supposed to follow,” she said.
Her comments have since sparked conversations on faith, spirituality and personal belief choices among fans and the wider public.
