Ghanaian rapper Showboy has broken his silence following viral videos showing an alleged attempt by officers of the Ghana Police Service to arrest him.
In a post shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account on January 30, 2026, the outspoken musician gave his version of events leading to the confrontation, claiming the officers unlawfully entered his residence while he was asleep.
According to Showboy, the officers attempted to arrest him without clearly stating the reason for their action. He said when he questioned them, they cited “publication of false news” but failed to specify what information he had allegedly published.
“Ghana Police break into my house while I was sleeping, saying that they want to arrest me. I asked them what the reason was, and they said publication of false news. When I asked what false news I published, they couldn’t explain,” he wrote.
Showboy added that even after contacting his lawyer, the officers were still unable to provide details or justification for the arrest. He further alleged that the officers did not have an arrest warrant, claiming one officer insisted his police identification card was sufficient.
“The guy said he didn’t have a warrant for me; his ID card was the warrant,” Showboy stated.
The rapper also alleged that the officers attempted to seize his car, an action that led to the arrest of two of his friends who tried to intervene.
“They tried to drive my car away. Pablo and Password tried to stop them, but they were beaten and arrested. All this happened because they knew they had no lawful reason to arrest me,” he added.
Showboy has indicated that he plans to file a formal complaint over the incident on February 3, 2026.
