A gentle early morning rain has washed over the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park, setting a refreshing tone for Day Two of the ‘Back to Your Village’ Food Festival’ today, Sunday, March 29, 2026. As the skies clear, the stage is perfectly set for another vibrant celebration of Ghanaian cuisine and culture.
Following a high-energy opening on Saturday, March 28, which drew thousands of patrons, organisers say today promises an even richer experience—filled with traditional music, cultural performances, and an abundance of indigenous dishes.
Powered by Channel One TV with support from Citi FM, the festival goes beyond a typical food fair. It has been curated as a full cultural immersion, blending community, tradition, and cuisine into one lively and engaging space.
On Day One, the park buzzed with excitement as crowds thronged the venue, eager to reconnect with their roots through food, music, and storytelling. Long queues formed at food stands serving freshly prepared local meals, while others gathered around live cooking demonstrations that evoked both nostalgia and pride.
Food lovers indulged in a rich variety of Ghanaian dishes, including banku with okro stew, fufu with light soup, aprapransa with crabs, tuo zaafi, and angwamo served with eggs, pepper, beef, or sardines.
The festival also drew high-profile participation, including the Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Emelia Arthur, who used the platform to call for a renewed focus on local food systems and rural development.
She urged Ghana to move beyond rhetoric and take concrete steps to position agriculture and indigenous food production as pillars of national development.
Among the standout attractions is the display of traditional cookware—grinding stones and earthenware bowls—that evoke memories of age-old culinary practices and communal living.
Organisers say the festival is also a deliberate response to the growing influence of Western diets, aiming to promote pride in Ghanaian food and cultural identity, particularly among younger generations.
With strong turnout on the first day and anticipation building, Day Two is expected to further cement the festival’s place as a major celebration of Ghana’s rich culinary heritage—now refreshed and reawakened by the morning rain.
Powered by Channel One TV, with support from Citi FM, the festival is sponsored by Ecobank, Gino, Didi Shito, Munchee Biscuits, the National Petroleum Authority, and Everpack.
