inMusic Brands has announced plans to acquire Native Instruments, ending a difficult period for the Berlin-based music tech giant after it entered insolvency proceedings in January 2026 due to debts accumulated under previous owner Francisco Partners.
The acquisition gives inMusic control of major music production and DJ software brands including Kontakt, Traktor, Reaktor, iZotope, Plugin Alliance, and Brainworx.
The two companies had already collaborated in 2025 by integrating Native Instruments’ NKS technology into Akai and M-Audio controllers and bringing NI sound libraries to the MPC platform, paving the way for the merger.
Industry observers say the deal raises questions about competition because inMusic now owns rival product lines such as Maschine and MPC, Traktor and Denon DJ, as well as multiple controller brands.
However, the company’s leadership has assured users that existing tools will continue to be supported and developed.
The acquisition also highlights broader consolidation trends in the music technology industry, with major brands increasingly operating under larger parent companies.
While many users are relieved that Native Instruments will survive financially, concerns remain about the long-term future of key products, especially Reaktor, which many consider the creative core of the company.
